High-Precision Planetary Gearbox
Torque-dense planetary reduction gearbox engineered in Korea for demanding industrial applications worldwide
What is a planetary gearbox?
A planetary gearbox is a highly efficient mechanical speed reducer characterized by coaxial input and output shafts. It consists of a central sun gear, a planet carrier holding multiple planet gears, and a stationary internal ring gear. This epicyclic arrangement allows for extreme load distribution and exceptional power density. Often misspelled in procurement logs as a plantery gear box, this device is critical for heavy machinery requiring massive torque multiplication within a constrained spatial envelope.
Key Engineering Facts
Bearing Lifespan
Equipped with heavy-duty SKF or Timken tapered roller bearings that provide an L10 operational life exceeding 50,000 hours.
Interface Compatibility
Features standard SAE, IEC B5/B14 flanges, and DIN 5480 splines, enabling 100% drop-in replacement for global planetary drive gearbox brands.
Torque Capacity
Delivers rated output torque from 1,000 Nm to 500,000 Nm, utilizing a 1.5 to 3.0 service factor to handle severe industrial shock loads.
Metallurgical Hardness
Central sun and planet gears are machined from 20CrMnTi alloy steel, carburized and quenched to achieve a surface hardness of HRC 58-62.
Manufacturing Precision
Engineered to DIN 6 and ISO 7 accuracy classes, guaranteeing operational backlash as low as 3 to 8 arc-minutes for motion control.
How planetary gears work?
Planetary gears work by transferring rotational force from a high-speed input motor into high-torque output through epicyclic motion. Power enters the sun gear, which turns the planet gears. Because the outer ring gear is fixed to the housing, the planet gears roll along the internal teeth. This action forces the planet carrier to rotate at a highly reduced speed, translating into massive torque multiplication. The symmetric arrangement ensures zero radial load deflection on the motor shaft.
What are planetary gears used for?
Planetary gears are fundamentally used for heavy-duty applications requiring immense torque and high radial load capacities. They operate as the primary drive mechanism in mobile construction equipment, mining conveyors, agricultural rotary tillers, marine winches, and precision industrial robotics. The planetary transmission ensures reliable operation in harsh environments, effectively handling the severe shock loads inherent in continuous industrial processing and automated manufacturing lines.
